the ear thing

I know. It's a lousy picture, HOWEVER. It brings up the burning question that's been eating at The Brown for awhile now.

Is there a human being alive that can see a dog with his/her ear turned inside-out and not feel COMPELLED to remedy it???

Awwwww. That's a-fucking-dorable, is it not? It's a never-fail heart-tugger, that flipped-back ear. And YES, it's compelling. It makes you inquire of the pup, 'Ooooh, Doggie Douglas, how can you have your ear that way? How can you not shake your head and flip it back into place? Here, let Mumsies correct it for you. Yes yes yes, you just let Mumsies correct it for you, yes, you LET Mumsies correct it for you.' And then you fold the ear back into the proper position.

That inside-out ear is a siren song.

Ooh, here's something to aspire to. When Augie (RIP) was a tiny puppy, we taught him to shake his head when we said, "Fix It!" More often than not, it got fixed. That's probably way too high on my list of accomplishments in life, but hey. It can't be helped.
