The Brownlettes and Mr B meet "the Big T"

A very Doggie Christmas

Christmas Day has come and gone, all relatives have been duly visited and gifted (even the ones whose packages had been pre-gnawed by the dog). And guess what?! All of it sans Vodka! (pour moi, anyhow) w00t w00t, me! I did over-eat quite heavily, though...

The brownlettes were thrilled on Christmas morning. At 6am. Me, I find it hard to get thrilled about getting up when it's still dark outside and I've had about 4 hrs sleep, and I'm about to get significantly less presents than the children.

Doggie behaved wonderfully. Such a good puppy!

my neighbour's dog is named Dave

"Daaaaave" "Daaaaaaaave" "come heeeeere Daaaaave" "Daaaaaavvvvvvve!"

ok, please tell me Dave is a dog.

In my make-belive world, Dave is a dog. It's actually a pretty cool name for a dog, isn't it? I think so.

If she was calling a human being named Dave, I'm really not all that surprised that he was evading her entreaties.

Because even to me, that voice was getting pretty damn irritating. I can only imagine how the dog felt.

the windy city

I have travelled to the windy city, and I am duly impressed.

I travelled to Chicago last week with my sister to bring home her adopted baby girl, who was born November 20th. (please forgive me for repeating myself :P) I now consider myself a gushing auntie.

I was honoured to be on such a momentous journey, and I was so lucky to get to see a city I have been curious about for some time now. The experience of bringing a new baby into the family, and of being in Chicago, was more than I had could have dreamt it would be. We are so blessed!

I was struck by the hospitality and warmth of the people in Chicago (and the west suburbs, where we spent several days). And what an amazing time of year to visit, with everything lit up for the Holidays! Gorgeous.

I also feel compelled to mention that in the short time I travelled the L trains as a tourist, and walked down State and Michigan...I noticed there seemed to be many nice-looking, clean-cut young men in Chicago. Probably too young for me. And of course, I'm not looking. But still. heh.
