what's that smell??

Tonight, I stepped outside, and I smelled Christmas in the air. weird, I know. But it was that mix of crisp winter air and anticipation and snow that to me, says "Christmas"

Also. I was laying in my room, the dog had come up onto the bed, (I know, I've created a monster, as Mr Brown loves to remind me) and I leaned over to hug her, and I got that....doggy smell. That smell, that, before I was a dog owner, grossed me out. But tonight, that smell was all about comfort, and love, and snuggliness. Oh...I RUVS my puppy.

privacy, or the lack thereof

It's really bugging me that creepy red-house-too-close-to-the-yellow house person can essentially see into my kitchen. It really hadn't occurred to me before to have blinds on the dining room window. But it's occurring to me now.

Two nights in a row, dude has spent quite a bit of time gazing out his back doorway, and tonight, dude's wife is at the kitchen sink.

I think one major factor is that we have such big trees out back, and now all the leaves are gone, there's no buffer between yards.

They can see me right now, typing. That is, if they were looking. And I'm too creeped out to check if they are.

oh well. It's better than my e-mail to Sportsnet did. They didn't even send me an automatically generated response.

i.am.appalled.

Appalled.

This is terrible. click here to see what I'm talking about.

Aaron Brown is one of my favourites! I mean, of course I like Anderson Cooper. I just think...it's awful - awful!- that the network would drop Aaron Brown like that. It's sordid. I'm embarrassed for them

And, OH PLEASE. I can't STAND Wolf Blitzer. CNN is usually on my TV- until Wolf comes on. Then I change channels or shut it off.

Don't worry. I e-mailed CNN already.

Conversations with Ms J

I called this picture "witchiepooch". This was the barricade behind which doggie observed Halloween.

Today, as most days, I had an interesting conversation with the littlest brownlette. The subject was magpies. I thought I'd provide her side of the conversation, since mine was undoubtedly much less charming.

Ms J: I remember the very first time I ever saw one of those birds. I was just sitting there, looking out the window. And I thought "hmmmm...something just went by our house". I was eating my French toast? What's the one I don't like? Oh. French toast. So, I was actually eating eggos. And I was sitting at the table, and I saw this pretty pretty pretty pretty bird. I think it's called something pie.

Yep. All this and more, is mine to enjoy, as I drive my children to school each day.

Ms J is awesome.

the ear thing

I know. It's a lousy picture, HOWEVER. It brings up the burning question that's been eating at The Brown for awhile now.

Is there a human being alive that can see a dog with his/her ear turned inside-out and not feel COMPELLED to remedy it???
